Admission Process & Guidelines

Admission Policy:

1. To ensure admission of students with academic competence and potentialities of high quality so that its alumni may be able to play their role in the process of nation building and social change in a meaningful manner;

2. To ensure that adequate number of students from the under-privileged and socially handicapped sections of our society are admitted to the University; and

3. The Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University) (NGB(DU), is open to all persons irrespective of gender caste, creed, religion, race or class, and it shall not be lawful for the Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University) to adopt or impose on any person, any test whatsoever of religious belief or profession in order to entitle him/her to be admitted as a student in the NGB(DU) or to graduate there at or to enjoy or exercise any privilege.

4. The NGB shall maintain an all-India character and high standards of teaching and research and shall provide merit-based admission in a fair and transparent manner. The merit of a student will be determined through a Common National level entrance examination conducted offline/online by the NGB(DU) either individually or by any other Central/State agency.

5. Admission in the Nehru Gram Bharati shall be open to Indian citizens, Non-Resident Indians, and persons of Indian origin. However, the NGB(DU) shall also admit foreign students as per the Government of India and State Government guidelines. Provided that titles, eligibility criteria and duration of Degree programs shall be strictly as per the specifications of degrees prescribed in UGC Regulations. Admissions will be open to NHEQF 4.5, 5.0 & 5.5 Level in NEP-2020 implemented Programmes having multiple entry and exit provisions.

6. Provided further that equivalence for entry level eligibility shall be decided as per Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for foreign students.

Provided further that no students passing eligibility examination from unrecognized Board or unrecognized University/Deemed to be University shall be allowed admission or grant of degree by the Deemed to be University.

7. For NRI/Foreign students, admission shall be made on merit of marks obtained in the qualifying examinations as per provisions of regulatory bodies, as may be applicable.

8. There shall be a well stablished Admission Cell headed by the Director Admissions accompanied by coordinators to conduct new/fresh admissions for every academic session as per the admission policy of NGB(DU), Prayagraj.

9. Initially student shall be provisionally admitted and after due verification of all relevant eligibility documents with their original documents they shall be finally admitted and thereafter enrolment number for a student shall be generated.

10. All the Admissions related documents viz admission forms, transfer /migration certificates, compiled data of admissions etc. shall be preserved in the Admission Cell (in both physical and digital formats) and maintained as per the University norms. The Admission Cell shall provide the information to all concerned departments on a regular basis.

11. In cases, where the admissions are to be given by an agency determined by State or Central Government, the Deemed to be University shall follow the norms and procedure as prescribed by them.

12. The NGB(DU) wherever necessary, may also consider score/merit in an entrance test conducted by any other State level/ National level agency appointed by the relevant government for admissions. (Eg. CUET UG/PG).

13. The admission and enrolment in various program/programs of the various Departments/Faculties of Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University) including reservation of seats shall be in accordance with the procedure and policy laid down in the ordinance of the Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University), policies of Government of India, State Government, and UGC norms as applicable to unaided deemed to be universities.

14. The number of seats including enhancement or alteration thereof in different programs of various departments/faculties of the NGB(DU) shall be allocated and approved by the Executive Council based on the recommendation of the Academic Council.

15. Fee Refund Policy : Request/application of admitted students seeking cancellation of admission and refund of the fee will be entertained as per UGC Fee Refund Policy 2024-25 or relevant UGC Refund Policy applicable for the academic session.

 

Admission Norms:- 

  1. The admission and enrollment in various programs/programs of the various Department/Faculties of the Deemed to be University including reservation of seats shall be in accordance with the procedure and policy laid down in the Ordinances of the Deemed to be University, policies of Government of India, State Government and UGC Norms as applicable to unaided deemed to be Universities.

  2. Admissions to various programs of the Deemed to be University shall be made strictly on the basis of  CUET/NGB(DU) Entrance Test/Interview and Counselling.

  3. Merit for admission to various programs of the Deemed to be University may be determined either on the basis of marks or grade obtained in the CUET/other applicable entrance/qualifying examinations along with applicable considerations as approved  by competant authorities/regulatory/statutory bodies and NGB(DU) Ordinance and achievements in co- curricular and extra- curricular activities or on the basis of marks or grade obtained in the entrance test conducted offline/online at the National level either by NGB(DU) or an association of the Universities offering similar programs, or any agency assigned such responsibility. However, admission in professional and technical programs shall be made through entrance test only.

  4. The number of seats including enhancement or alternation thereof in different programs of various Departments/Faculties of the Deemed to be University shall be fixed by the Executive Council on the recommendation of the Academic Council.

  5. The Deemed to be University will adhere to the criteria of reservation in admission as per the policy of the Government of India, State Government, UGC Guidelines related to unaided deemed to be Universities.

Number of seats in the Deemed to be University:-

The Executive Council on the recommendation of the Academic Council has fixed the number of seats in various programs of the Deemed to be University at the beginning of each academic session in accordance with availability of teachers and infrastructure and as per permission received from regulatory bodies. It may be revised, if required, with due approval as mentioned above. 

Alteration of seats in different programs:

The Academic Council may propose the alternation of seats in different programs to the Executive Council through the Vice Chancellor.

  1. The Vice-Chancellor shall recommend the alternation of seats to the Executive Council stating reasons for such alternation.
  2. The Executive Council may approve the alternation as proposed by the Academic Council and recommended by the Vice-Chancellor.
  3. Provided that such alternation shall not be made for those programs for which specific number of seats is permitted by regulatory bodies.

Reservation of seats (Reservation Criteria for Admission):-

Reservations in admission to Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University) is based on the policy guidelines of the  Government of India, State Government and UGC Norms for unaided Deemed to be Universities.

Manual/Online Application Form : An Online application form can be applied for all such academic programs through our website www.ngbv.ac.in  or Manual Application Form is available  in our Admission Cell office Located at Administrative Office at 104F/3, Malviya Road, George Town, Prayagraj 211002 or from Main Campus Kotwa-Jamunipur-Dubawal, Prayagraj 221505 and Hanumanganj Campus 221505. 

Freeships & Financial Assistance: With approval of the Competant authority dated 14-03-2023 the NGB(DU) notifies its Policy on Freeship & Financial Assistance for its Students as mentioned in Information Brochure 2025-26. This Policy will will be in effect from the date of notification and would apply to the whole of the University:

Important Enclosures with the Application Form:

The students are required to submit the following documents alongwith their application forms:

1.Copy of Aadhar Card
2.Attested copies of High School/Intermediate Mark Sheet and Certificates and Graduation degree & Markssheets (In case of U.G. & P.G. admissions respectively.
3.Character Certificate of the Institution last attended.
4.Transfer/Migration Certificate.
5.Proof of the Weightage Claimed (Copies of Certificates) or any other Certificate required in reference to application Form.
6.Two Passport Sized Photographs.
7.Caste Certificate

Admission Procedure (Academic Courses With Entrance Test)

Application form :A common online application form is applicable to all such academic courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels where admission is to be made through Entrance Test strictly on merit basis. The Prospects can be downloded from Institutes website or can be obtained on cash payment of Prescribed fee from the Admin Office at Malviya Road, George Town, Civil Lines, Allahabad, Campuses of Nehru Gram Bharati at Kotwa-Jamunipur-Dubawal and Hanumanganj, Allahabad.

Online Submission of  Application from Institution's website :The candidate can also choose to apply through online application forms available on the Nehru Gram Bharati (Deemed to be University)'s website: www.ngbv.ac.in. Last date of applying will be announced by the University. The Print Copy of online filled in application form along with Fee receipt generated  &  photographs must report the University's Admission Cell on such date as may be fixed by the Deemed to be University.

Post Admission Important Guidelines for Students:

1. After submission of Programme Fee and verification of eligibility original Documents, the student with his/her Fee Receipt has to visit the concerned department for Departmental Registration & is mandatory for all students. The Course Form is to be approved from HOD and Admission Cell Copy is to be deposited back to Admission Cell.

2. The Candidates who have taken provisional admission through online payment of programme fee by himself/herself through the HEI’s website. He/She will have to report for verification of original documents to confirm their admissions. He/she will also have to complete departmental procedures like departmental registration and approval of Course Form from HODs and submission of the same to the Admission Cell within seven days from the date of payment of programme Fee.

3. For Students Identity Card, the student shall have to fill the prescribed form (Provided by Admission Cell) and submit it to the Proctor’s Office located in every campus of the University.

4. For Library Card, the student shall have to fill the Library Card Form (Provided by Admission Cell) and get it made from the Central Library located at Shashi Campus.

5. The student should ensure that his/her APAAR ID is generated and is shared in the Application Form. In case, the APAAR ID is still not generated, he/she will have to visit EDP cell (Located on 1st Floor, Central Library Building in Shashi Campus) of the University and get it generated without any delay.

6. Seventy Five percent (75%) Attendance is mandatory for eligibility for appearing in the examinations as well as for getting scholarships.

7. In case of any grievance from students, they are advised to write a complaint and drop it in the nearby Complaint box or they may submit their grievance on the Grievance Redressal Portal tab (https://ngbv.ac.in/grievance/) available on  Home Page of HEI’s website (www.ngbv.ac.in).

8. No Claim will be entertained for fee submission other than the student should always deposit/submit their Fee only through University’s fee counters available inside the campus or the facility available on the website (www.ngbv.ac.in) for fee submission. The students should collect their Fee Receipts immediately after fee submission from University Fee Counter or should download the Fee Receipt from the website.

Research Program

For admission in Ph.D. Program, will be as per NGB Research Ordinance revised as per University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022 and will be in force from CRET-2023 < NGB Ph.D. Ordinance >.
